Dhaka, March 8 -- Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said the government has appointed an additional inspector general of police (IGP) from the Industrial Police as a focal point to ensure the payment of salaries, bonuses and other benefits to ready-made garment (RMG) workers ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
"We have appointed a focal point to address the issue," he said, BSS reports.
Speaking to journalists after two separate meetings on ensuring a safe and hassle-free Eid journey and the peaceful celebration of the Independence and National Day, the minister said the step was taken to prevent labour unrest in the country's top export-earning sector.
