Dhaka, May 24 -- Five people have been killed after a passenger bus crashed head-on into an ambulance in Faridpur.

All of the dead were passengers on the ambulance - three men and two women, according to the Highway Police. Details of their identities have yet to be confirmed, reports bdnews24.com.

Helal Uddin, chief of Bhanga Highway Police Station, said that the accident occurred on the Dhaka-Barishal Highway near the Shankarpasha Bazar area in Nagarkanda Upazila around 10:45 am on Sunday.

The ambulance was headed towards Dhaka, while the BTRC bus was headed to Faridpur.

All five of the dead were killed on the spot.
