Dhaka, Feb. 12 -- An election official has died while on duty at a polling centre in Brahmanbaria's Sarail Upazila.

Md Mujahidul Islam, 48, was working at the Nazrul Islam Auditorium Centre (Polling Centre No. 51) when he suddenly fell ill.

His colleagues rescued him and took him to the Sarail Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead, bdnews24.com reports.

Surail Upazila Health and Family Planning Official Md Mohammad Nizam Uddin said doctors believe he may have died of a brain haemorrhage.

Mujahidul hailed from Halua Para village in the Upazila.
