Dhaka, Aug. 23 -- The Islami Chhatra Shibir has removed Joyen Uddin Sarker Tonmoy from their panel for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election, allegedly over a controversial post on social media.

It was previously alleged that Joyen had posted on social media calling Birshreshtha Matiur Rahman a "flight hijacker". He later withdrew from the post after facing severe backlash from students, bdnews24.com reports.

The issue, however, resurfaced when Tonmoy bought a nomination form for the Shibir panel on Aug 18, triggering renewed criticism and discussion.
