Dhaka, Feb. 10 -- Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan has said he took charge of the university during a time of crisis, which no longer exists, and therefore wishes to step down from his post.

"I assumed the responsibility of vice-chancellor during an emergency situation. That emergency period is now over. So I want to step aside from the post of VC," he said.

He also expressed his desire to relinquish his deputation and return to teaching.

The DU VC made the announcement at a press conference held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday at the Abdul Matin Virtual Classroom of Dhaka University.
