Dhaka, Feb. 10 -- The apex bodies for the country's apparel sector have asked their respective members to provide information on possible losses incurred due to the workers' strike at the Chittagong Port.

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) in separate circulars on February 7 gave the instructions.

The move came after the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) asked for the same information from the associations on February 6.

The CPA said the workers and employees of the port had been on strike in various shifts from January 31 to February 2, and the operational activities were partially or completely closed.
