Bangladesh, Aug. 1 -- The Bangladesh Cold Storage Association (BCSA) on Saturday urged the government to provide a 20 per cent rebate on electricity bills and raise the cash incentive for potato exports to 30 per cent from the existing 10 per cent to help the sector survive a severe crisis triggered by falling potato prices.

Advertisement The association also called on the government to keep the cold storage charge at Tk 6.75 per kg, saying farmers are already facing difficult conditions and any increase in storage fees would further burden them.

The demands were placed at a press briefing held at the association's office in the capital.
