Dhaka, March 15 -- The Customs House in Chattogram has taken an initiative to auction goods stored in 378 containers at Chattogram Port.

The auction will be conducted through an electronic auction system in a bid to ease container congestion and ensure better safety and operational efficiency at the port.

The move is part of the customs authority's ongoing efforts to dispose of uncleared and auctionable goods in order to reduce security risks arising from container backlog, ensure physical and financial safety, prevent wastage of state assets, and enhance the port's operational capacity, says a media release.
