Dhaka, Aug. 27 -- The government will import 65,000 tonnes of fertiliser from Tunisia and Morocco to meet the growing demand, officials said.

The Advisers' Council Committee on Government Purchase at a meeting on Tuesday gave approval to this regard. Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed chaired the meeting held at the Bangladesh secretariat.

Under an approval Tunisia based Groupe Chimique Tunisien will supply 25,000 tonnes of TSP fertiliser to Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) at a total cost of Tk 1.846 billion. Each tonne of fertiliser will cost US$602.50 in this purchase.
