Bangladesh, Aug. 14 -- The securities regulator considers closing its academic wing -- Bangladesh Academy for Securities Markets (BASM) - in order to streamline its education and training functions.

The proposed restructuring may involve consolidation or integration of overlapping activities of BASM and the Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM). Market strategy guide

No final decision, however, has yet been taken on the fate of BASM, according to sources familiar with the matter.
