Bangladesh, Aug. 18 -- Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has launched dedicated bus service for women on 10 routes in Dhaka and two routes each in Chattogram and Bogura operated and managed by female drivers and helpers to ensure safe and comfortable journeys of female commuters.

Advertisement Rail, Road Transport and Bridges and Shipping Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam inaugurated the service at BRTC Tejgaon depot at a ceremony on Tuesday.

State Minister Habibur Rashid was also present, among others.

The minister said with this launch, the government shows its commitment to women's safe mobility on public transport, starting in the city from boarding buses to travelling in them and getting off by providing all-female staff.
