Dhaka, Feb. 12 -- BNP candidates secured victory in all five parliamentary constituencies in Sunamganj district in the 13th national election.
In Sunamganj-1 (Tahirpur, Jamalganj, Dharmapasha and Madhyanagar), BNP candidate Kamruzzaman Kamrul won the seat with 161,774 votes, contesting with the party's electoral symbol 'Sheaf of Paddy'. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Tofayel Ahmed Khan, who contested with the 'Scales' symbol, received 92,966 votes.
In Sunamganj-2 (Dirai and Shalla), BNP candidate Md Nasir Chowdhury was elected with 99,522 votes. His closest competitor, Jamaat candidate Mohammad Shishir Monir, secured 63,220 votes.
