Bangladesh, Aug. 12 -- BNP would finalise its presidential candidate at a meeting of its standing committee on Thursday, according to bdnews24.com.

Advertisement Once the candidate gives consent, the nomination papers will be signed by the proposer and seconder and submitted to the Election Commission.

At a meeting on Aug 10, the BNP Standing Committee entrusted Tarique with selecting the party's candidate for the presidency. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the decision to reporters after the meeting.

One Standing Committee member said, "We will learn the name of the presidential candidate at the meeting with the chairman."
