Bangladesh, Oct. 15 -- Bangladesh's exports to the UK could reach US$ 10 billion if the former's share of the UK import market increases from 0.49 per cent to 1.0 per cent, said discussants at an event in the capital on Wednesday.

They also stressed the need for diversifying exports beyond ready-made garment, meet international standards, modernise certification processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and address tariff barriers.

The observations came at a workshop titled "Exporting to the UK: Opportunities Beyond RMG" in collaboration with the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the British High Commission in Bangladesh on Wednesday at the DCCI Auditorium in the capital Dhaka.
