Bangladesh, Aug. 13 -- Bangladesh Bank (BB) has cancelled the contractual appointment of its Chief Economist Dr. Mohammad Akhter Hossain 10 months before the expiry of his tenure.

Advertisement To this effect, Human Resource Department-1 of the central bank issued the latest order on Wednesday, stating that the contract of Mr. Hossain has been cancelled from September 10 next.

Dr. Akhter Hossain was appointed as the chief economist by the central bank for a two-year contract on July 01, 2025 during the tenure of the past interim government.

However, the reason behind cancellation of the contract has not been known immediately.
