Dhaka, July 29 -- Bangladesh has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia following four days of intense and deadly clashes along their disputed border.

In an official statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Bangladesh's appreciation for the unconditional ceasefire agreed upon by both nations, calling it a "positive and timely" development.

The statement also commended the role of Malaysia, the current ASEAN Chair, for its mediation efforts and high-level political engagement in facilitating the truce.

Bangladesh further thanked other friendly nations that contributed to the peace process between the two Southeast Asian countries.
