Bangladesh, Oct. 8 -- The government has made transactions through Bangla QR mandatory for the issuance and renewal of licences of retail business establishments and merchants across the country.

The Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives has directed the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to implement the requirement, BSS reports.

The directive was issued in light of a communication from Bangladesh Bank dated September 1, 2026, regarding the introduction and expansion of Bangla QR-based transactions.
