Bangladesh, Aug. 4 -- A number of garment factories in Gazipur and Narayanganj announced three- to four-day unscheduled holidays as manufacturers of Bangladesh's main export product struggle with persistent gas and electricity shortages.

Advertisement Owners of the readymade garment (RMG) factories wouldn't call it closure but said the holiday leave would be adjusted with upcoming public holidays.

Industry leaders said the move should not be interpreted as factory closure rather as a temporary production adjustment aimed at minimising losses during the ongoing energy crisis.
