Bangladesh, Oct. 8 -- Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher has said the government is pursuing a 10-year development plan to ensure planned and sustainable urbanisations.

Under the ministry's Urban Development Directorate (UDD), the government would initially focus on metropolitan cities before expanding master planning and zoning to large cities and upazilas across the country.

"Without a master plan, development is like shooting four arrows at a target blindfolded. We want to work precisely," he said.

"We are strengthening the UDD so that proper planning and zoning can guide urban development across the country," the minister said.
