Sony Music Files Second Copyright Lawsuit Against Udio Over 30,000 Songs
New Delhi, July 21 -- NEW YORK - Sony Music has filed a second copyright infringement lawsuit against Udio, the AI music generator, asserting that 30,117 sound recordings were copied without authorization to train the company's artificial intelligence model.
The complaint, filed Sunday in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, names Sony Music Entertainment and nine affiliated labels, including Arista Records and LaFace. It arrives as every other major music company has quietly negotiated licensing deals with Udio while Sony has refused to settle.
