Six Killed in Shooting at Youth Welfare Center in Germany's Stade; Suspect Arrested
STADE, June 30 -- A gunman opened fire inside a youth welfare center in this medieval town on the lower Elbe on Monday, killing six people and wounding several others in one of the deadliest attacks Germany has seen this year. Police arrested the man they identified as the main suspect and said they were questioning two other people in connection with the violence.
Five of the victims died at the scene on Dankersstrasse, a residential street just south of the old town, and a sixth died later in a hospital, police said. All six were adults.
