Russia Overtakes United States as Spain's Second-Largest LNG Supplier, Enagas Data Shows
New Delhi, July 11 -- MADRID - Russia displaced the United States as Spain's second-largest supplier of liquefied natural gas in June, delivering 5,473 gigawatt-hours that represented 21.1 percent of Spanish imports, a 67.5 percent increase from the same month in 2025, according to data from Enagas, Spain's gas system operator.
The figures arrive at an uncomfortable moment for European policymakers. The European Union has proposed a 2027 cutoff date for Russian LNG imports across the bloc, but Spain's June numbers suggest market forces are pulling in a different direction, at least in the short term.
