INGLEWOOD, Sept. 23 -- The Giants' carefully planned rebuild was shaken when rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart injured his left knee while completing a deep pass to tight end Theo Johnson in the first quarter against the Rams.

Dart did not return. Initial examinations reportedly suggested an MCL sprain, while X-rays were negative; an MRI was scheduled for Tuesday. Giants general manager Joe Schoen said Dart "is going to be okay," but the team had not formally confirmed the reported four-to-six-week timetable circulating online.

If the diagnosis is a moderate MCL sprain, the injury would be a significant setback but not necessarily season-defining. The uncertainty remains until the MRI results and the Giants' official update.///
