New Delhi, Aug. 8 -- BEIRUT - An Israeli soldier sustained moderate injuries on Friday in southern Lebanon in what the Israel Defense Forces described only as an "operational accident," the army said, releasing no further details about the location, circumstances, or cause of the incident.

The soldier was evacuated to a hospital for treatment and the family was notified, the IDF confirmed in its customary brief statement, according to Times of Israel correspondent Emanuel Fabian.
