NEW YORK, Aug. 25 -- Broadcom has told investors that its artificial-intelligence chip revenue will grow by more than 200 per cent this quarter, reaching $16 billion. Not 20 per cent. Not 100. More than doubled and then some, against a base that had already grown 143 per cent the quarter before.

On Monday the stock fell 2.04 per cent to $360.93, and it now sits 27.1 per cent below its 52-week high.

There is no company-specific reason for that. Broadcom's second quarter, filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, showed total net revenue of $22.19 billion, up 48 per cent year on year, of which semiconductor solutions were $15.01 billion and infrastructure software $7.18 billion.
