Tanzania, Aug. 20 -- Monrovia. Liberia has charged former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor with drug trafficking, money laundering and other offences as part of an investigation into an alleged transnational narcotics network.

Howard-Taylor, who served as vice president from 2018 to 2024 under former President George Weah, was detained at Roberts International Airport while attempting to leave the country, according to Liberia's Justice Ministry.

She faces several charges, including the unlicensed importation, sale, distribution and transportation of controlled substances, drug trafficking, criminal solicitation, criminal facilitation, criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
