Bangladesh, June 9 -- Turkish Airlines is planning to launch a nonstop Istanbul-Sydney service using Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, targeting a start around 2027, pending certification and technical approvals.

The ultra-long-haul route would cover about 9,300 miles and take up to 19 hours, making it the airline's longest flight. Some A350-1000s will be configured for extended-range operations with more business class seating to improve economics on the route.

However, the project still faces challenges, including aircraft weight limits, fuel requirements, and final design decisions with Airbus. A potential technical stop has not been ruled out, though the airline is aiming for a nonstop operation.
