Dhaka, April 4 -- Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa, Nepal, is moving ahead with plans to significantly expand flight operations, with the aim of achieving full international capacity.

Airport General Manager Shyam Kishor Sah said the management is coordinating with airlines to increase flights beginning from the upcoming summer schedule, with efforts also underway to regularize currently limited international services.

So far, Thai AirAsia is the only airline that conducts international operations at the airport, running twice-weekly winter flights targeting Buddhist pilgrims.
