India, June 26 -- The Centre has revised passport application fees across categories, with the new rates set to come into effect from July 1, 2026. The revised fee structure has been notified through amendments to the Passports Rules, 1980, marking the first major revision in passport charges in over a decade.

Under the new rates, an ordinary fresh passport or reissue of a 36-page passport for applicants aged 18 years and above will cost 2,500 under the normal category, up from the existing 1,500. The corresponding Tatkal fee has been fixed at 5,000. For a 60-page passport, the normal fee has been increased to 3,500, while the Tatkal charge will now be 6,000.
