India, Oct. 24 -- Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Qalibaf will not attend the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in New Delhi due to unforeseen circumstances, the Iranian Embassy in India said on Saturday.
In a statement posted on its official X account on October 24, the embassy said the Iranian parliamentary delegation would participate in the meeting of Speakers of Parliaments of BRICS member countries despite Qalibaf's absence.
The embassy did not specify the circumstances that had prevented the speaker from attending.
The announcement came a day after reports said Qalibaf was expected to visit India for the two-day forum. His absence marks a change in the expected composition of Iran's delegation.
