New Delhi, May 6 -- Sterlite Technologies Ltd. (STL) on Wednesday said it will invest up to $100 million in the United States to expand its manufacturing capacity, as it looks to tap growing demand for AI-led data centre infrastructure and high-speed connectivity.
The announcement was made at the SelectUSA Investment Summit, where the company said the investment will support production of connectivity solutions, including terminated optical fibre cables, for AI data centres and telecom customers in the US. The move is expected to generate 400-500 jobs.
The investment comes as demand for high-capacity fibre infrastructure rises sharply, driven by the expansion of AI workloads and GPU-intensive data centre ecosystems. STL said it already has agreements with major US customers to supply optical connectivity solutions, including its high-capacity Celesta 6912 fibre cables.
The company has also recently expanded its AI data centre portfolio in the US with the launch of Neuralis, aimed at supporting next-generation infrastructure requirements.
STL's optical solutions are designed to create high-density "AI data highways" that connect data centre campuses and enable large-scale data movement required for AI applications.
"By owning the entire value chain-from glass to data centre portfolio-we are enabling customers to build the physical foundation for the AI era," said Rahul Puri, CEO of STL. "This investment will ensure the infrastructure backbone for global AI is scalable and reliable."
The US expansion underscores STL's strategy to deepen its presence in key global markets while aligning with the rapid build-out of AI-ready digital infrastructure.
