New Delhi, Aug. 27 -- Max Healthcare Institute Limited, a private sector hospital chain, has continued to raise its technology spending in line with business growth, spending nearly a third more last year almost in tandem with the revenue growth.

The company spent Rs.32.85 crore on information technology in the year ended March 31, 2025, compared with Rs.25 crore in FY24, while revenue rose from Rs.5,406 crore to Rs.7,028 crore.

The pattern has accentuated in the post pandemic era. Starting FY22, the IT spends and revenue have nearly tripled as against the past where tech expenditure was either flat or declined in the first year under Covid-19.

The increase in FY25 reflects both the expansion of hospital capacity and the rollout of new digital platforms. The company continued its deployment of robotic process automation across areas such as billing, claims and patient administration, scaling to more than 20 bots that now handle routine back-office tasks.

It also introduced generative AI tools in radiology and clinical decision support, while extending machine learning and analytics to manage patient volumes and operational data.

Cybersecurity has remained an important focus with investment in access controls, monitoring systems and regular audits to secure growing volumes of medical and financial records. During the year, Max also rolled out ONExp, a unified HR platform designed to centralize processes and improve data accuracy across its expanding workforce.

At the same time, the company launched an AI-powered remote patient monitoring service through the Max MyHealth+ app, integrating medical devices to allow patients to share vital signs with clinicians in real time.

System integration was another driver of higher costs in FY25. New facilities such as the Dwarka super specialty hospital and brownfield expansions at Saket, Nanavati and Mohali required upgrades to hospital management systems and electronic health record connectivity. The acquisitions in Lucknow and Nagpur added to integration needs, as did preparation for further capacity additions in Gurgaon and other projects under development.
