New Delhi, Oct. 30 -- Lumax Auto Technologies (LATL) has inaugurated a new technology centre in Bengaluru. Called the Smart Hub for Innovation and Future Trends (SHIFT), the center will help the Gurugram-based automotive OEM supplier to advance its electronics engineering and digital capabilities amid the global transition towards software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
The new centre will serve as a nucleus for advanced research and product development in key areas such as in-cabin experiences, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), connectivity, and embedded electronics. It is designed to deliver next-generation solutions for the evolving needs of automotive manufacturers and end consumers. "This centre marks a major step toward our Tier 0.5 vision, enhancing our strengths in electronics, mechatronics, and digital systems. We aim to lead the transformation toward intelligent, connected, and sustainable mobility, and Bengaluru's dynamic tech ecosystem provides the ideal environment for this journey," said Anmol Jain, Managing Director, LATL. The SHIFT Technology Center is equipped with advanced electronics labs for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, rapid prototyping, and product validation, enabling end-to-end innovation from concept to commercialisation. "With SHIFT, we aim to converge talent, technology, and transformation to engineer software-defined and digitally driven vehicles and evolve from smart systems to autonomous intelligence," said Satish Sunderesan, CTO.
An SDV is a modern vehicle in which core functions and features are controlled by software rather than by traditional hardware systems. According to research firm MarketsandMarkets, the SDV market is expected to reach $1.2 trillion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 34% from 2024. SDVs allow more flexibility, customisation, and remote upgradeability. This is leading to new business models, such as subscription-based vehicle ownership, over-the-air software updates, and enabling OEMS to offer new services to customers.
