
New Delhi, Aug. 17 -- Alulkar will lead the geospatial technology company's expansion into enterprise markets and scale its AI-led mapping and digital twin platforms
Genesys International Corporation has appointed former Tech Mahindra executive Nikhil Alulkar as its chief executive officer as the geospatial technology company looks to expand beyond government projects and accelerate growth across enterprise and international markets.
Alulkar previously served as head of India business and senior vice-president at Tech Mahindra. In his new role, he will oversee Genesys International's operations, business execution and growth strategy.
His mandate will include scaling the company's AI-native mapping, digital twin and spatial intelligence platforms; expanding its presence across business-to-business and enterprise markets; strengthening government and institutional relationships; and developing the operating structure required for international growth.
The appointment comes as Genesys seeks to reposition itself from a mapping services provider to a broader spatial intelligence platform. The company wants to use AI-enabled geospatial data to help governments and enterprises digitally model physical assets and make decisions around infrastructure, land, buildings and utilities.
"We are moving from mapping the world to making the physical world computable," said Sajid Malik, chairman and managing director of Genesys International. "What was historically viewed as mapping is rapidly becoming an intelligence layer for the physical economy."
Malik said Alulkar's experience in building enterprise technology businesses, developing customer ecosystems and working across government and commercial markets would support Genesys' expansion into new segments.
Over the past several years, Genesys has invested in high-precision geospatial content, survey infrastructure, mapping technologies and digital twin capabilities. The company is now looking to productise these capabilities and apply them across sectors such as infrastructure, mobility, utilities, telecommunications, urban planning, land administration, asset intelligence and consumer applications.
Digital twins create virtual representations of physical assets or environments using data collected from sensors, surveys and other sources. Enterprises and public authorities can use these models to monitor assets, simulate changes and support planning and operational decisions.
"Roads, buildings, land parcels, utilities and infrastructure assets will need to become digital objects that systems can understand, analyse and act upon," Alulkar said. "High-quality geospatial content therefore becomes foundational infrastructure rather than simply another dataset."
He added that the company's next growth phase would focus on turning its geospatial foundation into products relevant to a wider range of industries and taking those capabilities to overseas markets.
Mumbai-headquartered Genesys International provides mapping, surveying and geospatial services. Its shift towards AI-enabled spatial intelligence comes amid rising demand for geospatial data from smart-city programmes, infrastructure development, mobility platforms, telecom networks and utilities.
The company said it would continue to deepen its government business while developing more repeatable platform-led offerings for enterprise customers.
