Sri Lanka, Oct. 12 -- Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa has been summoned to appear before the Tangalle Crimes Investigation Division today.
According to police sources, Weerawansa has been instructed to report to the division at 10.00 a.m. in connection with a statement he made regarding Weerasinghege Sarath, also known as Beliatta Sana who was recently arrested on drug-related charges.
Weerawansa had previously appeared before the division on October 8 to provide a statement concerning his remarks. During the inquiry, he had reportedly denied any personal acquaintance with the suspect, identified variously as Sarath, Beliatta Sanaa or Puwakdandawa Sanaa and rejected claims that he had ever referred to him as an active member of the Jan...
