Srilanka, Aug. 9 -- Weligama Police have arrested a suspect accused of assaulting Dr. Kavvampally Satyanarayana, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Indian State of Telangana, and his son while they were on a visit to Sri Lanka.
Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F. U. Wootler said the suspect was arrested yesterday after surrendering to Weligama Police through a lawyer. ASP Wootler said the suspect is due to be produced before the Magistrate today (9). The MLA and his son were allegedly assaulted near Pelana Junction in Weligama. The suspect reportedly fled the scene on a motorcycle following the incident. The MLA's son was subsequently admitted to hospital for treatment.
