Srilanka, Oct. 19 -- Across several countries, recent protest Movements have grown from frustrations over essential services and governance. In Sri Lanka in 2022, people took to the streets over long electricity cuts, fuel shortages and corruption. In Nepal, Bangladesh and the Philippines, protesters mobilised around similar complaints: power and water outages, limits on access to higher education, and alleged misuse of public funds. The same grievances now underpin the unrest in Madagascar.
