Saman Priyadarshana, lyricist and journalist, passes away
SriLanka, June 14 -- Lyricist and journalist Saman Priyadarshana of Supreme Park, Gonapola, passed away on Friday, June 12. He was 61.
Priyadarshana's work spanned several publications, including 'Tiratharu', 'Trishulaya', 'Murudha', 'Malsamaya', 'Sampatha', 'Bothiya' and 'Rasa' newspapers. Over the course of his career, he wrote around 200 song lyrics. Among his most well-known works was the song "Gedi Siyak Bima Heluvat Appachchita Eka Gediyai," composed by Ananda Gamage and sung by W. D. Amaradeva, which gained wide popularity.
