SriLanka, July 5 -- The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sabaragamuwa was inaugurated yesterday with Prime Minister and Education Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya attending as the Chief Guest.

Funded through a US$ 50 million loan from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), the project includes a modern faculty complex, student hostels, a library, a 1,000-seat auditorium, and a Professorial Unit attached to the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital.

The new faculty on a 20-acre site, is Sri Lanka's 10th medical faculty and is expected to expand access to medical education while addressing the country's shortage of healthcare professionals.
