Srilanka, June 28 -- Former Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Kotte Municipal Councillor and founder of the Mr. Kottu restaurant chain, Viraj Wickramanayake, is under investigation over allegations that he assaulted and verbally abused staff members employed at his restaurant chain, the Police Media Division said.

Police told the Sunday Observer that the investigation was launched after voice recordings and compiled CCTV footage from several of Wickramanayake's restaurants allegedly showing him physically assaulting staff members went viral on social media. According to sources, Maharagama Police are investigating the incident.
