Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- Police will launch an investigation into several protesters following a clash that erupted on Friday night between demonstrators opposing the construction of wind farms in Mannar and law enforcement officers.

Officer in Charge of the Police Media Division CI Vineeth Jayasekara told the Sunday Observer that investigations have commenced against several protestors for the alleged obstruction of duty and disruption of peace.

The Mannar Police dispersed over a hundred residents in the Mannar Island who obstructed the A14 Road and carried out a sit-down protest in an effort to prevent the wind turbines and other equipment that were being transported into the Mannar island.
