Sri Lanka, Aug. 3 -- The Sri Lanka Customs generated over Rs. 1.2 trillion (over US $ 4 billion) in revenue during the first seven months of 2025, Customs spokesperson Seevali Arukgoda said.

The Department collected Rs. 1.227 trillion between January and July, he said. In July alone, the Customs earned Rs. 231 billion (about US $ 770 million), the highest monthly revenue on record, primarily from taxes on vehicle imports, he said.

Arukgoda said the Customs brought in nearly Rs. 300 billion (around US $ 1 billion) by taxing more than 28,000 imported vehicles.
