SriLanka, Aug. 2 -- The Credit Information Bureau (CRIB) has embarked on its most ambitious expansion since it was set up, broadening its national database beyond the banking and finance sectors to include insurers, microfinance institutions, telecommunications providers, utility service providers and other lenders under the proposed Credit Regulatory Act, CRIB General Manager and Director Pushpike Jayasundara told Sunday Observer Business.

"As part of a wider drive to strengthen credit assessment and build a fast, efficient and reliable credit culture, we are moving beyond our traditional banking and finance company database. From this month onwards, we will begin expanding our coverage to other sectors," the General Manager said.
