Sri Lanka, Dec. 14 -- The Central Environment Authority (CEA) will clear flood generated garbage and waste in and around Colombo before Christmas. CEA Chairman Thilak Hewawasam told the media yesterday (13) that the authorities expect to clear the garbage and waste over the next 10 days, that has been accumulated due to the floods following Cyclone Ditwah last month.
He said that the Western Provincial Council is currently clearing the garbage which has accumulated on the main roads, which has been discarded by local residents of the flood-hit suburbs of Colombo.
According to Hewawasam, the Western Provincial Authority has deployed over 100 lorries daily to meet the deadline.
