Call for consensus across political spectrum
SriLanka, July 5 -- The Government should follow the stipulated method to extend the retirement age of Apex Court Judges, which would not attract opposition from any party, former chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, Dr. Deepika Udagama said.
She was addressing a public forum organized by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) in Colombo yesterday on the extension of tenure of Apex Court Judges.
The forum was organized in connection with the alleged move by the Government to extend the retirement age of the Apex Court judges under a wider program to extend the retirement age for professionals across many sectors.
