Srilanka, Feb. 15 -- The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) will hold an emergency Special General Meeting (SGM) today (15) with the participation of all members of the BASL, mainly to discuss the assassination of an Attorney-at-Law and his wife by a group of unidentified assailants in a supermarket car park in Akuregoda on Friday (13).

A letter in this connection was sent to all BASL members by its Secretary Chathura Galhena. BASL President Rajeev Amarasuriya told a press conference yesterday (14) that such a meeting is being held after 14 years.

"We have not held such a meeting since 2012. The last time was during the Impeachment of former Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake," said Amarasuriya.
