India, Aug. 10 -- Mysuru, Aug. 10 (MK&VNS)- The University of Mysore (UoM) Swimming Pool in Saraswathipuram that remained closed for 10 days due to alleged lack of funds to buy chlorine to keep the pool water intact, was reopened on Aug. 6, paving way for the students restart their swimming classes.

The Swimming Pool had turned greenish owing to deposition of algae and foul smell was also emanating from the water.

Star of Mysore had also carried a news item titled 'UoM Swimming Pool in Troubled Waters' on Aug. 2 highlighting the pathetic condition of pool.

Following the report, the University authorities stepped in and supplied required chemicals to clean the pool and resume training activities from Thursday.
