Turtle with shattered shell treated, released into Kapila
Mysuru, June 14 -- A turtle that suffered severe injuries during canal excavation work near Mallupur village in Nanjangud Taluk was successfully treated and released into the Kapila River after a week-long rescue and rehabilitation effort. The turtle was seriously injured when an excavator bucket struck it during canal works, shattering its upper shell. According to those involved in the rescue, some residents attempted to take away the injured reptile, reportedly for consumption.
Yuva Brigade member Ravi Shastri intervened and rescued the turtle. He then contacted his friend Chandrashekar, sharing photographs of the injured animal and seeking assistance.
