Mysuru, Aug. 31 -- Maharani's PU College Principal P. Somanna has been suspended on charges of illegal drawing of money from the college accounts.

Somanna has been accused of drawing money from the college's official Bank account, Non-Public Sector Bank accounts and College Development Council accounts in gross violation of norms.

The irregularity came to light during the annual Audit of Accounts conducted by the Directorate of Pre-University Education, following which the Department of Pre-University Education suspended Somanna from service, pending inquiry.

During the term of suspension, Somanna has been asked not to leave the headquarters without prior permission of the competent authority.
