Ponnampet, Aug. 5 -- An elephant, suspected to have died of electrocution, was found inside an estate at Mayamudi in Ponnampet taluk of Kodagu district this morning.

The elephant, aged between 35 and 45 years, was reportedly electrocuted yesterday night after it came in contact with a power line in the estate belonging to one A. Devaiah.

Hunsur DCF Kirubananthan, other Forest officials and staff visited the spot this morning.

Steps are being taken to conduct post-mortem and ascertain the cause of death.
